- Don't forget that meeting with a potential client you have scheduled.
You might as well change your job title from CEO to Firefighter. After all, that's really what you do all day isn't it? Put out fires?

Oh, and that workout you were planning to get in over lunch? 

…Forget about it.

You don't even get a lunch. You skip it and find something quick just to get a little food in your stomach so you can keep working.

Before you know it, it's 6pm.

But wait, you still have that 7pm dinner with one of your best clients.

Tired and hungry, you meet them at your favorite restaurant for drinks (carbs), baskets of bread (carbs), and a bowl of their amazing pasta (more carbs).

You get home after 9pm and finish a couple things up before you rinse and repeat the next day.

You were excited to start that workout program you told yourself you were going to get on, but looking ahead at the schedule, you're going to be on the road over the next 5 days so now is not the ideal time.

Definitely when you get back though... right?

Now, I’m not going to bore you. This isn’t your typical fat loss mistakes you’d find in a run-of-the-mill magazine; you don’t drink enough water, you have too much sugar, etc.

Instead, these are the pitfalls I’ve witnessed with my very own eyes. I’ve seen hard-working entrepreneurs who finally manage to get some gym time, or get their diet beginning to bring some results, only for one of these 6 fatal errors to bring it crushing right back down again.


1. Focusing On Food ‘Quality’

You’ve got to eat clean, right?

Consume healthy foods like salmon, avocados, olive oil and unsalted nuts. Well, yes and no…

There’s nothing bad about these foods, but they’re all seriously high in calories. A small handful of nuts can have 220 calories, while an avocado contains 322.

They might be ‘good calories,’ but they add up quick, and can quite easily stop (or even reverse) your fat loss progress.


2. Failing To Plan Ahead

I see this all the time with busy entrepreneurs.

You start your day off right with a healthy breakfast and head off to work. 

Your day gets busy. You end up skipping lunch in order to get some more work done. Before you know it, it's dinner time, you haven't ate anything all day, and you're starving. 

It's late and you don't have time to cook. So you end up eating leftover pizza and Dorito's because that's all you had in the house.

To keep this from happening, you need to plan ahead. Here are a few suggestions: 

- Keep healthy high-protein snacks in your desk.
- Set reminders in your phone to eat.
- Don't keep junk food in your house during the week.


3. The "All Or Nothing" Mentality

When it comes to nutrition and diet, most entrepreneurs tend to either be all in or all out. Maybe it’s how we are wired.

Once you’ve fallen off the wagon and had that one bad meal or succumbed to that irresistible temptation, it’s game over. 

But it does not have to be this way. 

Do not allow one bad meal to turn into one bad day to snowball into an entire bad week. 

We all fall off the wagon. We are not perfect. EVERYONE has bad days

Expecting ourselves to be perfect causes us MORE issues than just accepting the fact that it won’t be perfect all of the time and that there will be times when you get off track. 

Realistic expectations will allow you to recover quicker from a bad meal or a bad day, because you’ve given yourself permission to fail. This will keep you from falling back into the cycle of “well I already messed up so what’s the point?”. 


4. Letting The Scale Be Your Only Progress Indicator

There are many ways to measure fat loss progress aside from the scale that give you solid insight into whether or not you're moving in the right direction.

In fact, when first starting any fitness or weight loss program, it is not uncommon to not see very much movement on the scale

This is due to the fact that you are likely gaining some muscle and shedding some body fat, which in turn keeps your overall body weight around the same number in the beginning.

It's also important to remember, the scale ONLY measures WEIGHT loss. Body fat readings measure FAT loss. There is a big difference between these two.

Here are some other ways to gauge your progress:

Circumference Measurements. Are your pants looser? Using a tighter belt notch? Mazel tov, keep doing your thing.

Progress Photos. See more definition in your pictures? Notice spots where fat is clearly going down? You're on the right track.

Max Reps. Performing bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups, chin-ups and sit-ups for max reps is a great way to mark your fitness progress weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Feeling Better? This is most important. Yes, six-pack abs are nice. But it's not all about vanity. How you feel everyday is your number 1 priority.


5. Overdoing It On The Weekend

For many people, the weekend is the hardest part. You eat well all week, you get all your workouts in, and then Friday through Sunday you take two steps back.

To counter this, here are a few pointers.

Start your day with a workout and a healthy high protein breakfast like eggs. 

If it's your day off from the gym, then do something light but active in the afternoon like a bike ride.

Limit the alcohol to 2-3 drinks and alternate with water in between.

Over time, these habits become routine and they will replace old habits. And over time, the increased activity and the decreased extra calories will start to pay off. 


6. Comparing Yourself To Others

This is a dangerous game that most of us play.

We all want to know how we’re doing. Entrepreneurs in particular are driven competitive people. We want to know how we stack up.

The problem with comparing yourself to someone else is, 99% of the time, you don’t know all of the other factors that are in play. 

Things are rarely as they appear.

Disposable income effects whether or not a person can dedicate resources to personal training and eating organic.

Having free time effects things like getting 8 hours of sleep, being able to meal prep, and being able to workout longer and more often. 

Age effects metabolism. It is more challenging for someone who is 50 to build muscle and burn fat than it is for a 20 year old. That’s out of your control.

Body type and genetics are also different for each and every one of us. 

The point is, when you compare, often times you are comparing apples to oranges.

If all you focused on was getting 1% better each day, and not on what everyone else was doing, I GUARANTEE you you will get the results you are looking for.

Bottom line, don’t waste your time playing the comparison game. It will only slow you down.

Avoiding these mistakes starts to get you to where you really want to be, but there’s just a little more needed.

“Do I need a gym membership or can I workout from home?”

You do not need a gym membership. However, our in-home workouts require you to have access to a set of resistance bands. If you do not own a pair, we have some resistance bands we recommend that are less than $30, and come as a set of 4 with a door anchor for in-home use. 


“What if I have dietary restrictions, food allergies or intolerances?”

I work with every single client on an individual basis, so if you have any particular dietary restrictions, food allergies, intolerances, requests or preferences, these can easily be taken into account.


“What if I have an injury or a health condition?”

When filling out the questionnaire, please list any current or previous injuries or health restrictions that I will need to be aware of when designing your plan. Many restrictions can be worked around or avoided but that information will be needed up front. If for any reason you are unsure of whether or not you should be exercising, please consult with your doctor or physician first before starting any exercise program.


“How will I know if my form is correct?”

Each exercise comes with a video demonstration and voiceover instructions on how to perform the exercise correctly. These can be viewed on your smart phone app or on your computer. You can also submit videos to me for form analysis.


“Are there age limitations?”

There is a minimum age limit of 21+ years or older. There are no maximum age limits as long as you have full medical clearance.


“Do you have a refund policy?”

Good. You SHOULD have questions. There are lots of shady characters in the world of online fitness, so let me answer the most common queries below:


“Do I need a gym membership or can I workout from home?”

You do not need a gym membership. However, our in-home workouts require you to have access to a set of resistance bands. If you do not own a pair, we have some resistance bands we recommend that are less than $30, and come as a set of 4 with a door anchor for in-home use. 


“What if I have dietary restrictions, food allergies or intolerances?”

I work with every single client on an individual basis, so if you have any particular dietary restrictions, food allergies, intolerances, requests or preferences, these can easily be taken into account.


“What if I have an injury or a health condition?”

When filling out the questionnaire, please list any current or previous injuries or health restrictions that I will need to be aware of when designing your plan. Many restrictions can be worked around or avoided but that information will be needed up front. If for any reason you are unsure of whether or not you should be exercising, please consult with your doctor or physician first before starting any exercise program.


“How will I know if my form is correct?”

Each exercise comes with a video demonstration and voiceover instructions on how to perform the exercise correctly. These can be viewed on your smart phone app or on your computer. You can also submit videos to me for form analysis.


“Are there age limitations?”

There is a minimum age limit of 21+ years or older. There are no maximum age limits as long as you have full medical clearance.


“Do you have a refund policy?”
